In Spanish, the name Chilli refers to any kind of pepper, but in the U. S. the term is limited to mildly pungent varieties that are mainly dried and used for flavoring other foods and for pickling. Fruits are largest skinned, up to 8 inches long and 1.5 inches broad at the top in fruited kinds.
